My Folk Circle is about building human connection. Music is how it happens.

My Folk Circle uses simple technology to help people come together, sing familiar songs, and build lasting connections. It is designed to make it easy for people to start and continue their own folk circles — using music as a way to bring people together.

No musical talent is required, and no one has to sing. Listening is taking part.

My Folk Circle is free to use.

How a gathering works

The format is deliberately simple, and it repeats around the group.

  1. Each participant shares something about themselves.
  2. That participant chooses a familiar song.
  3. The group listens or sings together.
  4. That participant then invites the next person to share.

My Folk Circle is still in development. We are looking for organizations and individuals interested in helping us shape and test it.

Optional: equipment that works well

My Folk Circle does not require a particular device. It can be used on compatible devices through a web browser.

If you would rather set aside one tablet and keep it ready for a folk circle, this is the equipment we have found works well with My Folk Circle.

Neither the Fire HD 10 nor the case is required. My Folk Circle itself is free to use — these are simply optional pieces of physical equipment for anyone who wants a device kept ready for it.
